Wordpress Gallery not respecting 'link to media file'

Hello I have set up a portfolio page, and inserted a wordpress gallery with link to media file in the gallery settings.

But it is not respecting this, and instead links to media page for an image, you can see it here:

I was hoping it would load in a pop up.

Maybe I am doing something wrong?

    Hello Gorm,

I checked your link but don't see any gallery.

Check out our fancy_images shortcode, http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php/Fancy_Images.

Thanks Elliot, you must have looked as I was tinkering with that page: Please try now: http://www.capitalhouseprojects.com/portfolio/church-farm-lane/gallery/sample-page/

With fancy_images, how do you integrate with wordpress gallery? Or do you have to upload all the images individually?

You would have to upload each individually.

For those add this in Dashboard -> your theme -> General Settings -> Custom Javascript,

    jQuery('.gallery-icon a').prettyPhoto();

Thanks for looking into this. Almost there, however I get this error javascript alert: Image cannot be loaded. Make sure the path is correct and image exist.

    Any ideas?

Try adding a link = "file" to the shortcode,

    [gallery link="file"]

Forgot - to say thanks for this, was me forgetting to put link="file" - a wordpress thing, and not an issue with the theme. Cheers

Hi i had the same problem as mentioned above (the wp gallery would not link to media file)

I fixed the problem by adding the custom javascript you posted above but when viewing each image inside the popup there is no "previous" & "next" buttons.

Is there any other script i need to add or something else i could do to enable "previous" & "next" buttons ?

    Thanks in advance

Try setting the rel attribute of each image to this,

I cannot understand what you actually mean by setting the "rel attibute for each image" and i think that by taking a separate action for each individual photo would not be so handy when dealing with a large gallery with lots of images.

To make it more clear ...the issue i am actually having is when clicking on an image from the gallery, the popup (lightbox) appears normally but if want to go to the next image of the gallery i need to click outside the popup and then click again and again on each individual image. Normally in that kind of lightbox there is a "next" button or even a play/pause button.

When you upload the image to your media library you can set the rel attribute.

Sorry but i tried that and there are no "prev" and "next" buttons. I only get the alt text content on the top of the image as a title. Is there any other way to have just by default these buttons? As i said before it would be also very diffictult to add this attribute (if it worked) to galleries with 100+ images. In several other themes i use when i add a gallery i can just view all the photos of the gallery by clicking just the "next" button.

(i attached two screenshots - screenshot 1 is what i get and screenshot 2 is what i want)

Thanks in advance for your help and hope to find an effective solution.

As far as I know using rel tags is required to make it into a gallery. See here for the prettyPhoto documentation, http://www.no-margin-for-errors.com/projects/prettyphoto-jquery-lightbox-clone/documentation.

Perhaps there is a plugin out there you can use for this.
