Wordpress 3.1.2 and several problems

resolved (10 posts) (2 voices)

  1. After the Upgrade to WP 3.1.2 I found that the site (anne-haigis.de) did not work well in Safari.
)* The frontpage sliders didn't load, the dropdown menu, cufon fonts and prettybox didn't work, and some other Awake shortcut actions like toggle-areas didn't work either.
After deactivating contact-form 7, Safari work well, just without my defined contact- and order-forms.

Now I found out, that all these )* problems still occur in Firefox 4 (Mac).

My client is some kind of upset, that her site doesn't work anymore. (She uses Firefox)
And I have to find out now what causes this trouble.

Any Idea which plugin or java code can cause these problems? Mainly Awake shortcode functions.
Should I downgrade to WP 3.0?

    Best regards
    Volker

    Hello Neomania,

It sounds like a javascript error. Try deactivating all of your plugins to see if this fixes it. If your still having problems then send us a link to your site so we can take a closer look.

  3. Hello Elliott.

Thanks for the super quick response.

This is really kind of weird. :-((

For Safari, Firefox and Chrome I found out, the site view is not correct if Contact-form-7 and WP-Google-calendar are both activated at the same time. With either just the one or the other, it's OK.

I'm on 4.0.1 and it seems to work fine for me. Try clearing your browser cache and refresh any caching related plugins you might have.

  5. Sorry, Elliott

The Firefox 4 Installation was an new one and Java wasn't activated by default.

The Problem with Contact-form-7 and Google-Calendar is the same for all my Mac Browsers.

I will now activate both plugins, so you might see the prob.

I'm not sure which one but it looks like they are loading jQuery on the page which is causing this error,

    $subul.outerWidth is not a function
    [Break On This Error] this._dimensions={w:this.offsetWidt...Width(), subulh:$subul.outerHeight()}

That function was added in 1.2.6 and you have version 1.2.3 being loaded.

I found this, http://contactform7.com/blog/2009/11/22/loading-javascript-and-stylesheet-only-when-it-is-necessary/, which should stop CF7 from loading jQuery. You can try that and see if it works for you.

  7. Thank you very much Elliott

I'm just wondering why the plugin combination worked before the WP 3.1.2 update.

First I will try another form plugin. formbuilder
Maybe it handles the java script correct.
The CF7 code error has too much effect on the awake theme functions.

Make sure that your plugins are updated also Neomania. Sometimes they break when a Wordpress update rolls around.

Let us know how it goes with the formbuilder.

  9. Hi Elliott

I replaced CF7 with FormBuilder and had to rebuild the forms on more time. But it works fine now.
FormBuilder provides a whole lot of individual Div-names for each item. It will take some time to adjust it by CSS. There is too much spacing right now.

I don't know if I will ever update to WP 3.2 as long as it is stable right now.
