Use of cufon fonts with german characters

   I tried really hard to get cufon mplus(light) to work with german characters ä, ö, ü and ß. I read the manual in the support section. No way.
   1. I made an extra font and copied it into the script folder - I could choose it but it made no effect. It just shows the replacement font TIMES or similar
   2. I changed the code in the original font script - no effect.
   3. I changed the base cufon js. No effect.
   4. To make sure, that there is an effect by changing the font, I changed the style to italic - it shows the replacement font in italic!

   What i am absolutely positive about is, that one of the above should work. What am I doing wrong?

   It would probably be easier if you used the WP Google Fonts plugin instead, http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php/Cufon_not_displaying_accents#WP_Google_Fonts.

   Hello Elliot,

   firstly, let my say "thank you" to you. Most of the problems are solved now. I did what you suggested to do and I could download a nice font from fontsquirrel und could make it display the german characters.

   But one thing is really crazy about my site. In the main content area I used some demo text. I choosed to show the contend in 3 columns (one_third), with a dropcap, a h4-headline and some demo text underneath.

   In the skin-section I choosed LUCIDA sans serif as a websafe font for my texts. So I followed your suggestion in the manual just to use cufon fonts for the headlines. I only have LUCIDA and my own CUFON font in my custom CSS. But the main text area always shows a serife-font! If I choose to use a cufon font, it will change to the cufon font. If I choose any websafe font, it always just diplays the serife font.

   I cannot solve it. Can you help again please?

   Take a look at the lists within the price boxes and on the labels of the buttons - in the homepage action area too. This seems to be a serife font to me but not LUCIDA or any other sans serif.

   According to your CSS it's,

   'Alike Angular',arial,serif

   Is that a font your using with the WP Google Fonts plugin?

   Yes, Elliot, it is. I tried so hard to solve the problem with the firstly not responding cufon font, that I decides to try the suggested alternative. I forgot to disable it, after I followed your step-by-step cufon-font-instructions. I am not that experienced right now, that I could have figured out this problem by myself,

   Let me say here and now, that you deal with great designproducts, and that you offer a absolutely sophisticating support. I therefore decided a few weeks ago to offer webdesign again, which I already did in the early beginning of my career in 1994 but ended doing it in 2003 after realizing, that without programming skills, there would be no chance to be successful.

   This changed now, with great CMS-products, convincing designs and the opportunity to deal in a 24h-world.
