Tweet in header has no Twitter icon

    In "Awake General Page Options" menu I select "Twitter" option for "Header Teaser Text". The tweet appears but it is not preceded by any Twitter icon or any other identifier that the text displayed is an actual tweet.

    I think this is confusing for viewers (text just looks random) and I assume this is a bug. The Awake Twitter widgets do show such an icon as well as displaying tweets in the Footer Teaser. In any case, is there something I can do to fix it on my side?

    Thanks!

    Hello Strategerizer,

    You can try applying a background image by opening up /wp-content/themes/awake/style.css and adding this line..

    .tweet { padding-left: 25px; background: url("styles/_shared/mini_icons.png") no-repeat scroll -299px -77px transparent; }

    You can use that image or substitute one of your own. Let us know if this works for you.

    I knew you can fix me right up with some of your magic. Worked great. Experimented also with a couple of other twitter icons from the theme and I came up with a couple of variations, using alternate images. Here they are, in case anyone else finds it useful:

    .tweet { padding-left: 37px; background: url("styles/_shared/post_sociables_twitter.png") no-repeat scroll transparent; }
    and
    .tweet { padding-left: 60px; background: url("styles/_shared/sprite.png") -147px 0 no-repeat scroll transparent; }

    Cool beans!

    For future users you can also use the [twitter] shortcode for this. When you type in the custom header teaser text paste this,

    [twitter count="1" username="your twitter username"]

    You can also do the same thing for the footer in Dashboard -> Awake -> Footer.

    Hello elliot

    Whatever I try of the options above, neither is working.
    Have choosen "Twitter" as Header teaser text as well as the options you mention.
    When choosing "Twitter" as an option in my header it still says "no public twitter messages"
    When I choose the option above "[twitter count="1" username="your twitter username"]" as teaser text and update, then it changes it back to "custom" or "twitter" but nothing happens.

    The widget in the footer on works perfectly though... .

    Help..

    Hello wimtemmerman,

    Make sure you are using the latest version of Awake and that you are placing your correct twitter username within the quotes. My twitter is designsaga so mine would look like this,

    [twitter count = "1" username = "designsaga"]

    If you are selecting the twitter option instead of the custom then make sure you have your twitter ID set within Dashboard -> Awake -> General Settings.

    Go ahead and try these things out and let us know if it works for you.

    Hello,

    1. Yes, I have the latest version of Awake (it says all themes are updated)
    2. In General settings I have put my username twitter.com/wimtemmerman
    3. On the Page itself, I choose "Twitter" and override the custom teaser text with [twitter count = "1" username = "wimtemmerman"].

    Still nothing...

  9. Hi wimtemmerman,
    the twitter username for the settings page should be wimtemmerman, not twitter.com/wimtemmerman.

    And if you want to override it using the twitter shortcode in the "Custom Header Teaser Text" field, you'll have to select "Custom" from the "Header Teaser Text".
