Trouble with Image Resizing

    Hi there,

I just moved an Echelon-templated site from my development server to a client's server. For some reason, I'm having issues with image resizing.

The resized images on the production server are distorted, a problem I didn't experience on the development server. For example, here's a page from the dev site:
    http://lumeno.net/silenttype/medical-transcription/newsletter/documentation-management-to-simplify-your-workflow
And here's the exact same page on the production site:
    http://www.silenttype.com/medical-transcription/newsletter/documentation-management-to-simplify-your-workflow

Notice that the featured image is contorted on the production site, as are the recent post thumbnails in the sidebar.

I've read a few support topics about this issue, and I've changed permissions on the cache folder and on thumbs.php, but those fixes didn't work for me. Any other ideas?

    Hello drseamons,

Did you make sure to update the "site URL" field before exporting your database? http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

You can also try this out, http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php/General_Troubleshooting_Guide#Image_Resizing_does_not_work.

Make sure that you do not have image resizing disabled in Dashboard -> your theme -> Image Resizing. And make sure that your using timthumb instead of Wordpress resizing.

    Thanks for the response, Elliott.

Yep, site URL was updated in the wp-options table.

Can't find the timthumb-config.php file in Echelon. The URI indicated (/wp-content/themes/[your_theme]/lib/scripts/timthumb/timthumb-config.php) doesn't exist.

Image resizing is not disabled, and timthumb is the resizer of choice.

    Other ideas?

OK, found the allowedSites array in thumbs.php (/wp-content/themes/[your_theme]/lib/scripts/thumbs.php) and added the site's domain. Still no dice...

    Hi drseamons,

    I found the issue.

I went to this URL on your website to test TimThumb:

    http://www.silenttype.com/wp-content/themes/echelon/echelon/lib/scripts/thumb.php?src=http://www.silenttype.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Image_WorkflowDiagram_1200x709.jpg&w=570&h=370&zc=1&q=100

And I got the following error:

GD Library Error: imagecreatetruecolor does not exist - please contact your webhost and ask them to install the GD library

Thanks much. The host company has installed GD. You'll no longer see the error. But after clearing my cache and restarting my machine, I'm still seeing the distorted images. Something else is going on.

    HI drseamons,

I just checked and it looks like TimThumb is working correctly on my end.

    For example:

    http://lumeno.net/silenttype/wp-content/themes/echelon/echelon/lib/scripts/thumb.php?src=http://lumeno.net/silenttype/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Image_WorkflowDiagram_1200x709.jpg&w=588&h=226&zc=1&q=100

Is there a link you can provide with a page that is outputting distorted images?

Also try clearing your browser cache and deleting all files in the following directory on your server:

    wp-content/themes/echelon/cache
