Translate theme strings

    Hi

I'm trying to translate a few theme strings to Danish, but simply can't figure it out.

I've seen your FAQ about using WPML but I don't want to buy this plugin.

In the .pot file I found a reference to "Read More" but I could not find the "Get Started" anywhere (two of the buttons on the frontpage).

I tried to translate the "Read More" in the .pot file (and used POEDIT), I've uploaded both files again to both the theme language folder as well as the wordpress language folder, but nothing gets translated.

Could you point me in the right direction please?

    Thanks...

    Hello rap,

I would go with QTranslate since it's free, http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php/QTranslate.

Or you can translate the theme texts directly without using a plugin, http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php/Translating_your_site.

Though I would still check out QTranslate as it's a pretty nifty plugin and easy to use.

It's only the theme strings I need translated (I already have the Wordpress danish language files installed, and do not need other languages). So I can't see that I really need qTranslate

To start simple, I just want the two fronpage buttons translated "Read More" and "Get Started".

I can find the "Read More" text in the .pot file, but not the "Get Started".

I've tried the stuff from here: http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php/Translating_your_site and uploaded a new .mo file, but I get nothing translated.

Shouldn't it just work like this? And where is the "Get Started" string defined?

I think your talking about the call to action button. You can change the text in Dashboard -> inFocus -> Homepage with the call to action button text.

If you just want to translate the text manually then open up /wp-content/themes/infocus/framework.php and on line 513 you should see this,

    $out = '<p><a class="post_more_link hover_fade" href="' . $url . '">' . __( 'Read More', MYSITE_TEXTDOMAIN ) . '</a></p>';

Though I recommend using the .pot file. Make sure you follow the full instructions in the tutorial.

    Found the "Get Started".

The "Read More" text that I wanted to change I found in the "/lib/functions/sliders.php"

    Thanks for your help
