Theme Fully Responsive or Not?

  1. Hi Guys

    I've had a problem with responsiveness of my site ( from day 1 and I reckoned that it was a setting or something that I could fix later, but I can not seem to find the answer.

    My site;

    Larry G. Maguire which is not responding well to mobile at all. I have disabled all plugins and it has made no difference.

    I have a custom homepage set up which does respond well but that's delivered by a separate plugin (which I have disabled in my efforts to figure this out)

    Images and other elements are not responding to smaller screens

    Other issues like fancy boxes with various short codes to achieve a certain look on desktop do do respond to a smaller viewing screen.

    As a result when my site is set to either responsive settings it breaks. It looks terrible.

    Do you guys have a fix for this? I know I'm not the only one having difficulties here and I accept I should have done my homework

  3. OK so I've found the problem.

    Here's a bit of custom CSS I had added;

    #body_inner { width: 100% !important; margin: 0px !important; }

    #header, #content, #breadcrumbs, #header_extras , #slider_module, #intro, #outro { width: 1100px !important; margin: 0px auto !important; }

    #footer {
    background-color: #00437F;}

    .display-posts-listing .listing-item {
    clear: both;

    .display-posts-listing img {
    float: left;
    margin: 0 10px 10px 0;
    .widget { border: 1px solid #00437f;
    border-radius: 5px;
    padding: 10px;

    Can you guys see where the problem is? What I wanted to get was a full width footer in a single colour- blue, and I also wanted a 1100 width site.

    Can you help me better achieve this?

    Regards, Larry

  4. Ok so I've answered that width question as well...

    #header, #content, #breadcrumbs, #header_extras , #slider_module, #intro, #outro { width: 1100px !important; margin: 0px auto !important; }

    throws out the responsiveness...

    So how do I get a desktop 1000 width and keep the responsiveness?

    Regards, Larry

    You can remove the !important or add a new line like so,

    .mysite_responsive #header { width: 100% !important; }
    etc etc
