The real role of "Media Settings" Vs. "Image resizing"

   Hello,

   My Image Resizing settings are the following:
   Disable Image Resizing: Unchecked
   Type of Image Resizing: Timthumb

   When I upload a new picture (using the normal process: clicking on upload button, a new box pop-up on a dark background etc.), the image is uploaded but three others picture are generated in my wp-content/upload/ folder.

   IMG_2033-150x150.jpg
   IMG_2033-640x426.jpg
   IMG_2033-1024x681.jpg
   IMG_2033.jpg

   This new generated picture are following the rules set on "Media Settings" (Dashboard > Settings > Media).

   • Is it normal to have the original Wordpress engine to generate those three new picture even if I choose Timthumb on your theme?
   • Is this generation absolutely required if I decide to only use your shortcodes to display any of my images? As you do the job of resizing on the fly?
   • If not necessary, how to deactivate the wordpress image resizing to only use yours and not fill up my upload folder with unused pictures?

   Hello Tazintosh,

   I'm not sure but I think that is Wordpress's way of automatically creating thumbnails for the "small", "medium", and "large" options when you insert the image into your post.

   It doesn't have anything to do with the timthumb resize script. I would ask on the Wordpress support forums on how to stop it. http://wordpress.org/support/

   Clearing all inputs and saving (put them at 0) made the trick.
