Sidebars in categories

  1. Hi there, I have the same problem like the guy one year ago:

    I have to use in several categories various sidebars. Since this dialog doesnt exist, Itried to do that with the plugin DYNAMIC WIDGETS.

    But the awake theme still picks the Primary Widget Area.

    If You didn't work it out until now, I would be also pretty happy if You'd tell me how to turn off the primary widget area, so the plugin would work, am I right?

    Hello slackzone,

    If your using the latest version of our themes then you can edit the archives sidebar and sidebar layout in Dashboard -> your theme -> Specialty Pages.

  3. Hi Eliott,
    yes thanks, ...ok this would cause, that the primary widget area is gone,and the new one appears. But what I want to do is:

    I have different categories and they shall have each an other sidebar.

    How can I add some more archive-pages( and related sidebars)?

    How can I remove it, so that the Dynamic Widget-Plugin would work?

    Open up /wp-content/themes/[your_theme]/lib/functions/theme.php and around line 520 you should see this,

    if( is_front_page() )
    	$sidebar = 'home';

    Below that add this,

    if ( is_category( 12 ) ) { $sidebar = 'mycustomsidebar'; }

    And you can keep on adding lines like that to change your sidebar for each category.
