    Is it possible to add a Sidebar to the Homepage?
    When I choose About Us as a content for the homepage I can't see a sidebar that I assigned to About Us page.

    I have inFocus theme.

    When I copy an "updated fix" to the theme, I get the following error on my homepage.

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/content/72/5813672/html/livinglightproductions.com/wp-content/themes/infocus/lib/includes/featured-custom.php on line 1

    the first fix creates a default sidebar not on the side but under the page content.

    Hmm, this one works fine for me. I don't have time to troubleshoot the error right now usa4dima but I will get back with you tomorrow.

    Try clearing your cache and reloading browser.

    Hey usa4dima,

    I'm not sure why you are getting the error and I am not. Try deactivating your plugins and see if the error still appears.

    If that does not work then try this..

    In the file I gave you on line 1 you should see this..

    <?php

    Go ahead and change it like this to see if it works..

    <?php require(WEBTREATS_INCLUDES . "/var.php");

    Thank you! The change of the code worked just fine! Turning plug-ins off did not help.
    Thanks again!

    Here is an alternative file because some users have been getting errors with the featured-custom.php file.

    Hi Elliott,
    I would also like to have a sidebar on my homepage. I'm fairly new to this and I'm sorry if it's a stupid question but Could you tell me exactly where to paste this code?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

    You do not have to paste any code, just download the file that Elliot provided, and upload it to the theme folder, inside "lib/includes/".

  19. This is a great theme and I congratulate you on the design. I too would like to have a custom sidebar for the Home Page. I have several questions. Is the zip file for a custom sidebar for home page and where is "lib/includes " in my theme file? The only files in lib are "admin, classes, extensions, functions, scripts and functions". Do I also infer this is for the most current release of inFocus?

    Thanks!

    Hello aikihawk,

    If your using the latest version of our themes then the homepage has it's own sidebar called "Homepage Widget Area" which you should see in Dashboard -> Appearance -> Widgets.

  21. Elliot, I am using the latest version, but it seems whenever I add more than one widget, it somehow mysteriously disappears. I will go back and try again, then return if I experience further difficulty.

    On another matter if I may, on the MySite you use as the Sample Page showing all the different layouts and options available with inFocus, I was wondering how you achieved two visuals: the grey shadow box on certain blog posts that just reads UPDATE (nice effect) and the grey shadow buttons at the bottom of some of the sample page columns where inFocus, Wordpress and others were used with the Logo and text. They are an image but appear to be formatted in a grey shadow box of some sort. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again for the great looking theme.

    Try deactivating your plugins to see if any are causing conflicts.

    I'm not sure what you mean about the update text. Send us a link to the demo page you are referring to. Be sure to exit out of the demo bar or it will always link to the homepage.

    Oh I see. That is an effect that was created in photoshop. You can view the full image here, http://mysitemyway.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/update09-11-2011.jpg.

    There are lots of photoshop tutorials out there that can teach you how to do these effects, http://psd.tutsplus.com/?s=inner+shadow.

  25. I can't find it at the moment. It is similar to the above but it was used below each of the columns on one of your pages; gray box or frame, or button, with inFocus in one below the first column; Wordpress & WP Logo below the second column, nd adon't remember the 3rd Image...

    It wasn't a normal picture image, but plain text and logo appearing in grey box or button like
    in Fancy Header 2 format but smaller...
