    Hello mfuggle,

Deactivate your plugins and then send us a link and we'll take a look.

    Hi mfuggle,

It looks like there is no post image set as your featured image for the following post:

"To Flinders and back" : http://www.fuggle.com.au/wp/2012/01/22/to-flinders-and-back/

Can you verify that there is.

Well that is the problem. However it's not the whole problem since there was a featured image when I reported the problem but it was from the NEXTGen library and it appears that images from the NEXTGen library which are used as featured images in a post do not display (I have not followed this through but will do so). When I disabled the NEXTGen plugin as requested by Elliott the featured image was no longer available for display. No doubt that prompted the observation that there was no post image. I reinstated the featured image using the Wordpress Media library (rather than the NEXTGen library) and it is displayed correctly.

So the problem seems to be that it is not possible to use images from the NEXTGen library in the post featured image. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for posting your solution mfuggle, it makes sense, from now on use the Wordpress media library to populate your featured images.

I'm not clear why we're not able to use NextGEN images in Featured Image (using Awake theme). Is there a way to fix this? It's very confusing to my small clients to see "Set as Featured Image" when loading NextGEN in a post, then setting it as Featured Image and it shows in the right panel in edit Post mode but doesn't render on the front end.

It's a lot for them to remember, "if it's this, then do this, if it's that, then do that" ... any solutions to make it work? Ideally all image management is done through NextGEN gallery rather than just sometimes.

To close this thread for now I understand that we're not able to use NextGEN images in Featured Image (using Awake theme).

My hope is that a fix can be implemented soon. It's very confusing for clients to see "Set as Featured Image" when loading NextGEN in a post, then setting it as Featured Image and it shows in the right panel in edit Post mode but doesn't render on the front end.

It's a lot for them to remember, "if it's this, then do this, if it's that, then do that". Ideally all image management is done through NextGEN gallery rather than just sometimes. The WP Media Library will fill up quickly and there's no way to organize all the media that will end up in there (every post's Featured Image). Not very efficient.

Wow Elliott, you are a genius. Yesterday I began developing a 2nd website with your templates (Dejavu) and ran into the same issue with NextGEN not showing Featured Image when published, same problem that started this thread 9 months ago with Awake theme. Today I scoured the web and found dozens of people posting the same problem with themes from all different theme developers. Apparently it's a NextGEN problem that hasn't been addressed by Photocrati who owns it.

YOUR CODE FIXED IT! Yay! Thank you so much!

Question: I am using a child-theme. Can I put this code in functions.php in my child-theme, or can I add a file called image.php to my child-theme and add just that?

Unfortunately that edit wouldn't be available in a child theme. We'll see if we can get that added to the framework in a future update.
