Saving skin not retaining changes

I have installed a fresh new version of WP into a new hosting site at Media Temple (mediatemple.com). I have selected the Blue skin and made some modifications. When I used "Save As New Skin" to create a new skin, my modifications were in place as expected. However, now when I edit the new skin and then Save Skin, the overwrite message appears, and then the yellow Saved skin... message, as usual. But the changes are not retained.

    I have changed permissions on

    /wp-content/themes/[your_theme]/styles/

to 777, including all it contains, but I am still unable to save changes to my new skin, or any other skins.

I am burning up a lot of time on this any help would be appreciated.

    Hello shaun@shaunfurlo,

Are you using a caching plugin? If so then be sure to clear it's cache.

I had this problem and the only way I could remedy it was to save the changes as a new skin. Hope this helps.

I am now having this same issue at another hosting service (SiteGround). Seems to be a common bug. Has this been addressed, or do we just have to save as a new skin every time we edit one (Custom1, Custom2, Custom3, etc.)?

It just seems the theme is having trouble saving changes to skins. The spin icon just remains, and no message is received. Even saving as a new skin requires one to log out, then back in again to be able to choose the new one.

It does not resolve by changing permissions.

No caching plugin is being used.

Is there a way to delete posts?

Try completely deleting the theme before downloading + uploading a fresh copy.

    Thanks, Elliott.

I'm not 100% sure how to do this without starting all over. If I delete the theme and then replace it, won't all the changes I've made to the theme be lost? How do I best proceed?

The only changes that will need to be redone is if you have edited any of the theme files.

You can export your theme options in Dashboard > your theme > Advanced.

ELLIOTT PLEASE HELP I AM HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. I HAVE SPENT HOURS IN THIS FORUM LOOKING FOR A FIX. NO THEMES WILL SAVE CHANGES WHEN I CLICK SAVE UNLESS I SAVE IT AS A NEW SKIN EACH TIME. SAME THING HAPPENING IN CHROME AND IE. AND FIREFOX.

IF I GO CLICK ADVANCED FOR A PARTICULAR SKIN THAT I HAVE EDITED I CAN SEE THAT THE CHANGES ARE *NOT* BEING SAVED THERE.

    HELP HELP HELP HELP

    Hi tbastefanie
Did you get this resolved? I have had the same problem, the only way I could get it resolved is by installing a new theme, whatever their latest version is. But that is a huge pain if you are not using a child theme because you will lose ALL of your settings. I honestly don't know if MSMY is still supporting these forums and even more important I do not know if MSMY is going to update their themes, which will leave everyone vunularable to attacks and their theme/site breaking with updates to WordPress. You may want to try a new theme company all together.

    Best of luck.

hi Omg- Nope, never got this resolved... for each skin change I need to make I am saving a new skin each time (ie. Blue1, Blue2,....Blue67) and then activating it to see the change on the site. Friggin stupid I know, but I am not upgrading my themes and losing all my settings.

    MSMW = TITANIC.
