In the Construct dashboard, when I choose to exclude categories from my selected blog page, are they also excluded from my rss feed? This seems to be the case, but I wanted to be sure that this is what should be happening. A related question is do I need to choose a blog page in the dashboard or can I leave the choice empty? If I set a blog page to display all my posts, but set the page as private, would that also affect my rss feed? I want to control and restrict the display of posts to visitors, but not to my rss feed subscribers. For my purposes, using blog shortcodes and choosing specific categories is a simple solution. It seems I can only do that on a page that is not set in the dashboard as my blog page. In summary, I want all posts to hit my rss feed, and be available to search engines, but I want only a small subset to display on my website. Are shortcodes the best way to accomplish that?

    Hello secaris,

Your feed will display them all. If you want to display posts from a certain category in your feed then see here, http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Feeds#Categories_and_Tags.
