RSS Feed & Blog Posts

  1. I am assuming the correct URL for the Post Feed is:

    feed://www.allankarl.com/keynote_speaker/meet-allan-karl-keynote-speaker-adventurer/blog/feed/rss/

    in my case:

But no posts show up. Yet if I look at the blog page:

    http://www.allankarl.com/keynote_speaker/meet-allan-karl-keynote-speaker-adventurer/blog/

I do have placeholder posts. Ultimately I am trying to use the InFocus RSS widget to display post titles in my Footer 4; but the feed doesn't seem to be working.

  3. Safari gave me an error so I went here and discovered it didn't validate. Thoughts?

Is it just Safari giving you the error?

The W3C validator's are still buggy with HTML5 and CSS3. If you use them with Google or Themeforest then they will give you errors also.

  5. Hi -

Safari gives the error "content is not in a known feed form (PubSub:2)

Firefox displays the first item in the feed, but nothing else.

The InFocus - Blog Posts Widget does display them.

    Something funky there.

Our demo feeds seem to work fine in Safari. Try deactivating your plugins to see if any are causing conflicts.

  7. Deactivated all plugins (I only have two active: Jigoshop and Akismet) and still same error.

    Funky.

Try switching to the default theme and clear your browser cache to see if it also gives you the error.

  9. Elliott - Good idea. I did try the Twenty Eleven Theme and my Safari Feed from the site works fine. So there's something conflicting and causing the error in the InFocus Install?

    What do you think?

Feel free to log in and change the theme to see for yourself. I'm switching back to InFocus - here's a screen grab.

Try creating a few more posts and maybe recreate that current post.

I noticed you have a bunch of inline CSS section with decimal values,

    margin: 0.0px

Not sure if that could be causing problems or not but go ahead and leave them as whole numbers,

    margin: 0px

As an alternative you could also consider using feedburner.com for your feeds. It also gives tracking so you can view the progress of your feed and see how many views it has.

Hmmmmmm, not sure on the inline CSS; not something I did directly but maybe a blogging client (Ecto or MarsEdit) may have inserted that as I pulled one of those posts from another blog. I'll poke around. Good idea on the feedburner as I use that on another blog. I'll poke around.

    thanks!

Not sure if this will help you or if you even want to bother with it. Note: the 0.0 and list didn't have any affect. I removed it all.... BUT....

I found the offending post that caused the error in the RSS Feed.

    1) I use posts as a workspace as I build my site

    2) I created my home page text using a post (just to work and test formatting)

    3) There are a number of short codes and the tooltip etc., in the home page. This post was published

    4) When I unpublished this post the RSS feed works

    5) Feel free to login to my WP Dashboard and look or grab the code if it helps you trouble shoot. Obviously this isn't a real blog post, but I had been using the post as a scratchpad.

    6) I'll keep the post unpublished while I'm testing, but it's called "Home Page Call To Action." Something in this page is causing the Safari and frankly the Firefox error. I don't think anyone would use as many short codes as I used in this "post" so the chances of the replication are probably low. But I thought you should know.

    Hope this helps.

It could be one of the shortcodes on that page. Try removing them one by one to see if any are causing safari to hiccup.
