Responsive Issue Showing Up in Google Webmaster Tools

  1. Hi Elliot,

    Hope all is well!

I just received notification from Google Webmaster Tools (GWT) about Mobile Usability on

The Following 9 errors are listed under Site Messages

Mobile Usability > Viewport not configured
    Info Link —

Here's a list of the offending urls which all appear to be theme based images

It appears that this batch of errors may in some cases be related to the above.

Mobile Usability > Touch elements too close
    Info Link —

There are 2 more batches of reported errors:

Mobile Usability > Content not sized to viewport

Mobile Usability > Small font size

But I figure if you could advise me on how to correct the first 2 batches then we can tackle the last 2 batches.

Apparently Google has gotten very serious about Mobile Usability so these issues are quite a priority.

Look forward to hearing from you and resolving this.

    Hello Shunyata,

When I check your site with the google mobile test tool it says it passes with no errors,

    Did you get these fixed?

  3. Hi Elliott,

Google's Mobile Test Tool only tests on a page by page basis.

I just ran the first link through it from the above list and it failed.

So I still really need your help to get these issues cleaned up.

That's not a real link. Our theme does not display there.

  5. Elliot the link was an example of a widespread problem that is being flagged by Google Webmaster Tools.

Regardless of whether the link is asset orientated or user orientated it is still going to effect the standing of my site in organic search.

I really hope that you can help resolve these issues to make your template truly responsive.

I do not look forward to the prospect of migrating the site to another template structure.

It's not a problem with our theme. Google should not be indexing your directories so I have no idea what your seeing. Try contacting your hosting provider and ask them to disable directory listing.

  7. Hi Elliot, apparently your theme is not truly responsive at least not in the eyes of Google!

I normally develop my own child themes with the Genesis Framework and each of my sites are Hosted with an identical accounts and set-ups at the same hosting company.

Non of my other sites have any of the problems that Google is flagging the Myriad Theme for.

You can see the problems for yourself over at

Do you see the red exclamation point?

    Use legible font sizes
    Size tap targets appropriately
    Configure the viewport

These are the usability issues that are being picked up by Google and will compromise the standing of my site in the search results.

Surely you don't want all of your Myriad clients to be adversely effected by the upcoming Goggle Mobility Update.

So, how would you suggest that I go about fixing these issues?

    I await your advice
