Resizeable Backround Image

    Hi.

    I guess this really isn't a feature request but I was wondering how you would go about having a resizeable background image i.e. it scales to fit the browser window, like is seen on the new theme http://themes.mysitemyway.com/?theme=Myriad.

    Although it may be nice to have this on a page by page basis, I am really more interested in having a site-wide background image with this 'feature'.

    I have found some plugins that will do this but as Myriad does it, I'd rather avoid using a plugin if the framework will allow for it.

    I don't have a specific theme in mind. I'd like to have this feature available for any client project, regardless of the theme if possible.

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi.

    I was wondering if you could reply to my question. I have a project on the go which needs a background image as described above.

    Thanks!

    Hello sunstardave,

    You posted this in the feature requests section. Which theme are you using?

    Hi Elliot.

    I know. I am curious if this is possible for all of the themes, so wasn't sure where to post it.

    The blog post re the latest theme updates (http://mysitemyway.com/theme-updates-for-01-05-12/), suggests that the feature is available for all themes but my question, -assuming this is the case- is, can the scalable/resizable background featured in Myriad be used with all themes on a site-wide basis.

    That said, the specific project in hand is using DejaVu.

    Thanks,
    David

    If you update to the latest version of your theme you can change the background for each of your pages / posts. If you want to change the default background then you would edit the skin.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I know about that, however, simply changing the background image in the skin editor, doesn't (with Awake anyway), make the image scale to the size of the browser window.

    I want the site-wide background image to do what is here: http://themes.mysitemyway.com/?theme=Myriad

    ie as I increase or decrease the browser window, the background image scales accordingly.

    Is this the only theme which has this feature?

    Hi sunstardave,

    When you create a new skin after updating the new full screen option will show up by default.

    To enable the full screen background on an existing skin, though, you will need to do the following:

    Open your skin in "Advanced" mode, and then find the body background lines which should look like the following:

    /*:Body ~*~*/
    body{/*:Body Background */
    background-image:none;background-color:#ddd;background-repeat:repeat;background-attachment:scroll;background-position:center top;}
    /*:Body End ~*~*/

    Change it to this:

    /*:Body ~*~*/
    body{/*:Body BG+ */
    background-image:none;background-color:#ddd;background-repeat:repeat;background-attachment:scroll;background-position:center top;}
    /*:Body End ~*~*/

    Then save changes.

    Now when you open your skin in the standard edit mode your background option should look like the following:
