Questions about Awake...

    #1. SHORTCODE TEXT BOXES. I do not see Shortcodes exemplified on your website at http://themes.mysitemyway.com/awake/shortcodes/style-shortcodes/. I assume Awake has also the nice blue, green, yellow and red custom "notification" boxes like inFocus, right?

    #2. GALLERY IMAGE CROPPING. Any way to display a gallery without cropping the image to fit a predetermined aspect ratio? For display of artwork, cropping is generally a no-go. May not look as consistent having images of various aspect ratios but it is the preferred option if we have an issue with cropping. A common scenario or portrait shots where the most interesting part (the eyes) may be in the upper third, which would get chopped off and look unacceptable.

    #3. SEARCH BOX. Does Awake provide a Search widget like inFocus? (which may work better than the small icon with the hover effect in the menu bar)

    #4. CUFON FONT GRADIENT. Can this be disabled or customized? I find it a bit distracting and not as legible, looked better in inFocus....

    #5. I have customized inFocus to use Highslide JS instead of Pretty Box (Pamela has provided the fix). I assume the same is possible for Awake (having all images use Highslide JS, instead of Pretty Box), please confirm this is the case.

    Thanks!!

    Hi Strategerizer,

    Below are the answers to your questions.

    1) Yes, and all the shortcode demo pages are back up now.
    2) No, not at this time.
    3) Yes
    4) Yes, the gradient will disappear if you disable cufon, or you can remove it easily in custom.js
    5) Yes, it would require the same basic adjustments inFocus did.

    Brilliant (well, if I ignore the image cropping issue - I really hope you consider providing a solution to deal with situations where automatic cropping creates issues).

    I am now the proud owner of both inFocus and Awake.

    Any issue you are aware of when moving my site to Awake?

    Thanks (you guys, and gals, are amazing!)

  4. Any chance Pamela can clue me in on the code to change prettyPhoto for Highslide js?

    I have inFocus, not Awake, but my guess is that you can fix both.

    Does anyone have a patch for prettyPhoto to minimize the gigantic fat borders? I would prefer 5-10 instead of 20. I am no coder and my attempts to adjust the CSS are complete failures.

    Thanks.

    Hey SEA7,

    I have been playing around with it but this is the best I could come up with.

    .pp_left { padding-left: 10px !important; }
    .pp_right { padding-right: 0px !important; margin-right: 10px !important; }
    .pp_top { height: 10px !important; }
    .pp_bottom { height: 10px !important; }

    You can try downloading a fresh copy of prettyPhoto and copying over the CSS file to /wp-content/themes/infocus/lib/scripts/prettyPhoto/css/prettyPhoto.css and see if it reverts back to 10px.

  6. Hi Elliott,

    Before I get lost in the CSS, is there only one place .pp_left occurs? Do I need to edit the silver.css at all? Exactly which file and where in the file should I look for this.

    Thanks much.

    I think these lines would probably be in the prettyPhoto CSS but it is kind of a mess in there.

    You could place these lines in the silver.css or the style.css whichever you prefer.. we are using the !important rule so we are overriding the default styles.

    What it did for me was decrease the borders back to 10px but there was a little offset on the right side which was noticeable.

    I can't seem to find the file that was edited but it would probably be the prettyPhoto CSS. Try creating a backup and downloading a fresh copy from the prettyPhoto author.

  8. Thanks for the try. On my screen it is worse. Photo attached.

    Why is this so hard?

    This should be on PrettyPhoto to resolve. It looks like hell (except on their page). I can't be the only one.

    If I need to put some code in my iframe so the HTML cooperates with PrettyPhoto somebody should tell me.

    Thanks for the follow-up -- still stuck.

  9. Finally got some movement! I am settling for this until inFocus gives me the directions on how to leave prettyPhoto in the dust. I want HighSlide, I want captions, I want copy in the pop-up box, I want more.

    I can push the flashcontent over with this:

    #flashcontent {
    height: 100%;
    width: 100%;
    margin-left: 10px;
    }

    but that only works in IE - in Firefox it goes off-center to the right.

    The hide from IE code isn't working for me - any suggestions?

    Hello SEA7,

    I wrote a small tutorial on getting highslide to work with inFocus here,

    http://mysitemyway.com/support/topic/lightbox-effect-with-highslide-replacing-prettybox

    Just wanted to make sure you saw it.

    As for the prettyPhoto, have you tried downloading a fresh copy of prettyPhoto and copying over the CSS file like I suggested above? The directory is /wp-content/themes/inFocus/lib/scripts/prettyPhoto/css/

    Make sure to create a backup of the css file and if something goes wrong then just copy it back over.

  11. Looks to me like I need to find someone who can give me the code to hide margin code from Firefox but apply it to IE8. I know it is easy to do, I just don't know the code.

    Thanks for the tutorial link.

    @SEA7, I looked at your website and I see you have the ability to show the overlay content (the panoramas) FULL SCREEN. How did you do that?

    I was also frustrated with the lack of features for PrettyPhoto and for version 1.3 of Awake I had implemented HighslideJS. Now I upgraded to Awake 2.x and see how much work there is to redo all my tweaks - so I am willing to give PrettyPhoto another shot. From your website I think you have kept PrettyPhoto. How is your experience with it? How did you get the fullscreen and gallery navigation thumbnails to work?

    Thanks!
