Portfolio Video Thumbnails vs. Blog Post Thumbnails

I'm looking for a way to display thumbnail images for the featured videos in my blog posts. (I guess they're not technically 'thumbnails' but actually smaller, re-sized versions of the actual videos)

When I create a portfolio list via shortcode, it auto-generates a mini thumbnail for the videos. For example: http://themes.mysitemyway.com/?theme=Awake (under GALLERIES > VIDEO PORTFOLIOS)

When I visit my blog index page (which I've selected via the Awake BLOG options dropdown in the admin), the resulting page also includes thumbnails of the featured video in those particular posts.

The issue is, if I try to use the blog shortcode it does not create a thumbnail / smaller version of the featured video. Because I am building a video blog, anywhere that I try to list my blog posts beyond my main blog page (recent posts widget, on the homepage or in the Related Posts below each blog), I don't have any visual representation.

Is it relatively easy for me to add this ability?

My other option is to use Portfolios instead but I really like the Related Posts + additional metadata (author, date posted, etc.) that I get with a regular post.

    Thoughts?

    Hello blackburn,

I'm having a little trouble understanding. If possible then send us a link to your page or take a screenshot so we can get a better idea.

If you just want to create a thumbnail which opens up to a video inside prettyPhoto then consider using our fancy_images shortcode, http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php?title=Fancy_Images.

You can set a video link in the "link_to" variable and it will open your video up in prettyPhoto.

I just sent over a quick PM with links to the development site and a better description (hopefully) of what I'm getting at. :)

    Cheers.

Download the attached zip file and extract into /wp-content/themes/[your_theme]/lib/shortcodes/ to overwrite the previous file.

Let us know if that works for you blackburn.

That looks to have done the trick! Seems to have slowed the site just a touch but I'd imagine it's because the site is now loading up multiple vids from YouTube all on one page.

Thank you for all your help!
