Plugins do not work in Awake theme

Hi, plugins are not working in my Awake theme website regardless of the plugin that I install. Once I activate any of them there is an error message: Error 500 Internal Server Error and then I am asked to try again later. The plugins are uploaded correctly via my FTP site /wp-content/plugins. The last plugin I activated locked me out of the admin dashboard with the Error 500 error message again.

What is causing this and how can I fix it?

    Many thanks.

    Hello hurricaneharbour2,

A 500 Internal Server Error is usually a problem with your server. Do you still get these errors when using the default theme? It would be best to get in contact with your hosting provider and let them know about this. Also ask to see your error logs so we can grab some more information.

    Hi Elliott

Thank you for this information. I tried the default theme and the plugin worked. I will get in contact with my hosting provider to let them know about the problem today and request error logs. Will report on the outcome when it is reached. Thank you for your help. Get back to you soon.

    Kind regards.

Alrighty, also let us know exactly which plugins are giving you problems (include links if possible) and we'll take a closer look at them.

    Hi Elliot:

I am having a problem using the Mingle plugin with Awake.

Mingle is overloading the server. Is there a known issue with Awake and Mingle?

Mingle Forum plugin works, but not Mingle. I am able to install Mingle and tested. It worked fine, but randomly started having problems today.

    Hosted with godaddy

    Please help.

    Hello rspohn,

Your link is timing out for me. Try contacting your hosting provider to see if everything is okay.

I did before I contacted you. It is hosted at godaddy.com.

The problem is with the mingle / mingle forum plugin and the theme i am using

It timed out because of the error.

I accessed my site via ftp and renamed the mingle and mingle forum plugin directories so it will not access them.

Still getting a recurring system overload: /web/cgi-bin/php5

    Thoughts?

Site will not even load now.

Not sure, it works fine when the default theme is activated?

Your site does not load if the plugin is activated?

My site was working fine for a few days with the plugins installed.

Then, it decided not to work.

Now, even with the plugin directories renamed, the site will not load.

Out of curiosity, what do you use for the MSMY forums?

We use bbPress. There is a plugin for it now which makes it really easy to use, http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress/.

If your having any 404 issues when using it then do this, http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php/BbPress.

The site is loading now without the mingle and mingle forum plugins, but is extremely slow.

I spoke with Godaddy tech support and things are fine on their end. The problem is content related.

This link proves it loads fast outside of WP.

I am installing WP Super Cache plugin in hopes it speeds up.

Super Cache plugin seems to help a little, but logging info my dashboard is painfully slow.

Navigating within the dashboard is slow as well.

Any idea why this would happen?

    Hi rspohn,

WordPress does have a long history of slow load times on GoDaddy, as you can see from the link below:

If you search Google you'll find several tips & tricks that may or may not help depending on your situation.

Here are just two links I found really quick on Google:
