    In the old awake (1.6) I used to have a sidebar in which I had text & custom menu. And the custom menu worked just fine, similar to what is now a page template called "Feature tour". How do I do this with the new Awake (2.1)? I would use Feature tour template, but I do need to put some custom HTML above the "menu".

    Any way around?

    Hello cramzy,

    The custom menu widget will work the same as in version 1.3. WIth the feature tour it will create a tab menu to the left of every page that is assigned the feature tour template. It would be best to bundle all of your pages together as children of a parent page.

    A good example is the features page on our demo, http://themes.mysitemyway.com/elegance/features/features-overview/.

    All of the links on the left are using the feature tour template and are children of the "Features" page.

    Hi,

    If template == feature tour, and I have selected a custom sidebar that has some HTML and a menu bar, the result is that the HTML is not there. Actually, it always looks the same way no matter if I select a sidebar or not, as long as it is feature tour. I am using page layout with left menu...I need to have left menu & above it - the app icon.

    So, it's not working the way you describe it...any idea why?

    Hi,

    I do not think that the "feature tour" suits your needs here. I think you should create normal pages, and include your necessary widgets in a custom sidebar just for those pages.

    Yes, I did that too, but then these custom menus do not show on which page I am (as the feature tour shows). How do I get around this?
    The previous version of Awake was OK with this. Is the new version less capable?

    If you need a sidebar then as ruderic said it would be best to just create a normal page and use the custom menu widget. You can style the current menu item by doing something like this,

    .widget .menu .current-menu-item { }

    And then you could add some padding, a background image, or change the color.
