Mobile Display of "Enhanced" Images with WP-Touch

  1. Hello,

Your awake theme is working well with us on laptop/desktop displays. We're using WPTouch Pro plugin and it's doing a good job so far too. However, it cannot render out the shortcode for enhanced images. For example:

    [image_frame style="framed" align="left" alt="HIFU Scanning Prostate" title="HIFU Scanning Prostate" height="300" width="225"]http://atlantichifu.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Ablatherm-3D-prostate-scanning.jpg[/image_frame]

Referenced from http://atlantichifu.com/hifu/ - the image that has a frame / border around it.

It works fine on desktop / laptop, but does not work well with mobile / smartphone / tablet devices. Any solutions to render out these types of images? Thanks!

    Hello brianzajac,

I think the WPTouch Pro loads it's own code and templates so none of our shortcodes will work there. We are looking into creating a theme for that plugin though (based off which skin your using) but we don't have a set date.

  3. Elliott,

Thanks for the reply. I've contacted the guys over at WP-Touch (Brave New Code) and you can see the response at http://www.bravenewcode.com/support/topic/mobile-display-of-enhanced-images-with-wp-touch?replies=5#post-23506 if you're logged in. If not, here's a workaround below. Keep in mind this code is to remove content when viewed via mobile devices. It still won't render the content until you both have worked on this issue together.

There are some things you can do about the shortcodes. You can filter the existing shortcodes via General > Compatibility, then use the custom shortcodes to display your content so they can only be seen by your mobile users. See more info on that here - http://www.bravenewcode.com/docs/wptouch-pro/tutorials/using-custom-shortcodes/

You can also try applying the concept in this article below to your own theme - http://www.bravenewcode.com/docs/wptouch-pro/compatibility/using-shortcodes/

If they don't update this by time you see the post, there was an update to the code to make it work:
    [wptouch target="non-mobile"]Content Goes Here[/wptouch]

From what I understood is that WPTouch creates it's own "theme" and code to use and when we create a child theme we'll have to convert our shortcodes over.

We'll take a closer look at it in a future update.
