This is a new shortcode function.

Copy the existing tabs shortcode function, modify the code to invert the look, add the new shortcode to your functions.php.

    Cheers,
    Tim

  3. Hello OnePressTech,

Sorry Colin...I'm focusing on bugs for another month.

Customisations will be chargeable work. No one can reasonably absorb the cost of custom work.

To make new / custom feature prices low enough for an SMB audience I plan to:
    1) allow people to submit new / custom feature requests
    2) develop an R&D quote for those new / custom feature requests
    3) allow multiple people who want the feature to set the amount they are willing to pay until enough people commit to covering the R&D cost.

Before I put that in place though I need to finish the website / newsletter and see how many ex-MSMW users are still around, still using MSMW themes, and are interested in a BackStop Themes future. We would need some reasonable volume to make new / custom feature R&D cost-effective.

    Cheers,
    Tim

Have no worries Colin. I have committed to keeping the MSMW themes up-to-date at no charge for 2017 & 2018 as BackStop Themes. I just can't absorb the cost to develop and sustain new features other than those I add for my paying clients. I will add a paid enhancement model for those who have a need. I just need another 2 months to give me time to finish the BackStop Themes site fit-out and to finish bringing the themes up-to-date.

    Cheers,
    Tim

  7. Hello again Tim,

i bought a small tab plugin that fulfills my needs.

Now i have an other problem: the plugin works fine on each page/post, but not on my start site. If i insert the code there, it doesn't work and breaks the theme down. so what can i do?

I tried to use the executed code, which i took from the developer console of my browser, but the result doesn't work: http://rostocker.taxi/tab-test-3/

Here you can see the plugin working fine: http://rostocker.taxi/tab-test-2/

The plugin works with page id...

    Regards
    Colin

  9. Hello Tim,

i tried today and made some screenshots. I guess the problem is, that the plugin uses the id of the page and i don't know if the BST providing any kind of page id for the start page.

the shortcode ist not executed on the start page. On all other pages, shortcode works.

    Regards
    Colin

I looked at the source code for the page the tabs are not working on and the issue is that WordPress is adding a paragraph tag in the middle of the plugin shortcode's rendered html. It's not the theme that does that it is WordPress.

Get rid of the [raw][/raw] and see the following post to fix this issue:

  11. Hello Tim,

thank you for the advice you gave.

i researched the problem again, to find the main problem:

The shortcode of the plugin can't be executed, because the start page, generated by the theme, doesn't have a page id. The shordcode extracts the page id and executes the request.

The support of the plugin can't help, because they need to make massive changes, which is out of support policies.

So i need to find an other solution. Thatswhy i changed my setup to "static start page". Now the plugin works fine, but now the next problem appears:

The blog function breaks completely down.

    Do you have a solution???

    Regards
    Colin

Last response on this Colin...getting a custom tabs plugin to work is custom consulting and I only handle theme bugs. This is not a theme bug.

Tell the guys who wrote the plugin that it is a one-line check to get the home page ID:

    $frontpage_id = get_option( 'page_on_front' );

Regarding your blog not working...the home page is a weird page. Don't ask me why WordPress doesn't handle it the same as any other page but they don't. See https://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page

If your blog stopped working on your home page check the Front Page Display Settings on the General Settings Reading admin page. Don't just change it in the customizer...for some reason the configuration in the customizer does not include the same page / blog options that appear in the General Settings Reading admin page.

I hope you work it out.

    Cheers,
    Tim

No worries Colin...you never annoy me :-)

For issues that are not theme bugs I can afford the time to make one or two suggestions only. I had said "Last response" not because I was annoyed (I wasn't) but because I didn't want you to wonder why I stopped responding further...we get enough of that from MSMW :-)
