When I try to customize an Awake skin I cannot change the font or the color of that theme. The font and color stays the same (remaining on its default configuration). How do I change the font and color of a skin?

    Hello seerenity,

Make sure the following directory is set to 777 permissions, /wp-content/themes/[your_theme]/styles/ and then delete your skin and download a fresh copy and try saving it once more.

I am having the same issue, and I followed your steps, Elliott. I even applied the permissions change recursively to ensure that every .css file was set to 777. I am still not able to change the color of the font. It always reverts back to the default after I save it.

What else could be the problem?

I have kept digging into this problem, and I learned that the .css file is in fact being modified. If I tell Echelon to change the font color to #000000, it DOES save that to the .css file properly. But when I re-open the General typography settings inside Echelon, the default values show up again and the theme does not reflect my changes.

After setting the directory to 777 permissions you have to download a fresh skin or create a new one. You cannot edit the existing skin if it was saved already.

I'm not having success, Elliott. Can you break it down step-by-step so there is no chance of a misunderstanding? I've re-uploaded the skins and even gone as far as re-installing the entire theme, but I am having the same issue.

    1. Make sure the following folder has 777 permissions, /wp-content/themes/[your_theme]/styles/.

    2. Create a new skin.

    3. Edit the skin and save it to see if the changes are working.

Yes that worked. I saved my changes to a new Skin and voila, changes took effect. Thanks.

Ok, I guess we're not out of the woods yet. I tried to modify the NEW skin I just made, and it's not taking the changes. I have to continually make a new css file if I want to change something.

What setting are you changing that is breaking the skin? Your not using the "advanced" section to edit it are you?

No, I'm just trying to change the color from soft gray (default) to black.

Oh, and the second thing I tried to change was the size of the font.

Could you send us test credentials to your site so we could take a deeper look?
