I have the Persuasion theme installed. I have NOT upgraded to WP 3.3.1 because I didnt want to lose my text (which happened to another site I had). I just went into my homepage text, which had 4 columns, and changed a link. Then HALF of my homepage text disappeared!!! HELP!

Hello tbastefanie,
Make sure your using the latest version of your theme and the latest version of Wordpress.
You shouldn't lose any information but as always be sure to create a backup to be safe.
If you want to stick with your current version then paste the code your using here.

Elliott- Can you tell me if there are any known bugs that delete the homepage content OTHER than the issue w/WP 3.3? I have 2 sites in the works and I had upgraded one and LOST all homepage content, and had to upload 2 files to get the editor to work again. For the second one, I purposely did NOT upgrade to WP 3.3 to avoid this problem. So can you tell me how this happened? Am I going to have to take a backup every time I make a change to my Homepage to ensure content is not lost?
It says Persuasion 1.4 ; is that the latest version? Do you have instructions on how to update the theme without losing the customizations made to it? Are there instructions for backing up the website somewhere? These are my first two sites with your themes. Thanks

In 3.3 they changed the editor code so we had to do a quick update to fix it. For Persuasion it was 1.5, http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php/Persuasion_Changelog#V1.5_-_12.13.2011.
If you update Wordpress to 3.3 before updating your theme and save your changes then it sets the homepage text to nothing.

Here is our instructions on how to update your theme:

The current version of Persuasion is 1.9
You can download it from your "My Downloads" tab in your Mysitemyway admin area.
If you update Persuasion first and then WordPress everything should be fine.
In any case before making any major changes to your site I'd recommend always doing a Database backup:

Ok, I've updated to Persuasion 1.9 and then updated to WP3.3.1. However the text that I lost on my homepage (which was only HALF of the text, not all of it), is still gone. Guess I can't get that back? I still want to know why the text was lost when I hadn't done anything except update the homepage text. ? Do you have any known bugs that could have done this?

I figured out the problem! I will post answer here to hopefully help others. When using the fourth-column shortcode, ONLY THE LAST ITEM (#4) NEEDS TO HAVE THE [one_fourth_last] [/one_fourth_last] pairing. What I had done was move the code for item #4 into the 2nd position, and that wiped out the remaining two columns, leaving me with column 1 and 4, and no column 2 or 3.
