homepage image slider

  1. My client wishes to have a landing page for international enquiries which then links to 1 of 5 modified copies of the existing homepage all of which contain a running image slider.

    The problem is that that it looks like the infocus image slider only works on the infocus homepage and I need to make the landing page as the homepage and make the existing homepage with slider a standard page.

    is there anyway to do this other than removing the limitation of the slider only working on the homepage. Having an anypage image slider would be a neat update and make the theme more flexible

    Thanks for the good support to date

    Hello paulvallance,

    In your case it sounds like you are wanting a different slider for each page correct? You could consider using wordpress multisite but it would probably be more work than it is worth.

    I created a page template that will show the slider on the page but as of now there is no way to create multiple slider instances.

    I know a lot of users were wanting this functionality so I will go ahead and post it here.

    Directions:

    1. Download and extract the file into /wp-content/themes/infocus/
    2. Create a new page and select the "Slider" template.
    3. View the page and test it out to make sure it is working correctly.

    Once again, this template will use your default slider on the page. Currently there is no way to define multiple sliders but this may be changed in the future.

    Hello AdaleRene,

    The Awake slider is a bit more complex so it might take awhile before we get a slider template coded. We will post it here if and when it gets done.

    Did you ever make the Awake slider template? I would love to use this on another page since I don't use it on the Homepage.

    Thanks Stephen

  6. Thank you for the above Template file... just what I needed.
    However is it possible to remove the sidebar?

    I tried it myself, but with my limited knowledge of PHP I removed the sidebar but messed up the rest of the page.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello newvisionmedia,

    You will need to find, <div id="primary">, and switch it to <div id="primary_full"> and find the beginning and ending to this tag, <div id="has_sidebar"> and delete them.

    It would probably be best to wait for the new framework though which is right around the corner.

  8. Elliot,
    Thanks for the fast response. I managed to identify the code and have successfully made the change.
    Many thanks for the excellent service. Look forward to the new framework
    All the best,

    Hello amen123,

    Try adding this in your style.css file,

    #home_page #comments { display: none !important; }

    Hello amen123, did you get this worked out okay?

    If they are still displaying for you then open up the template file and delete lines 158-160 and 359 - 361 which should look like this,

    <div id="comments">
    	<?php comments_template(); ?>
    </div>

    Does anyone know if this fix is supposed to work in the latest inFocus theme? I just tried it and got all kinds of errors.

    Hello mmjoyner,

    This is for inFocus 1.6. In our next update we will have some shortcodes that you can use for this.

    I have inFocus 2.3 are they in that version? I will take a look as well. Did not think to look in the shortcodes. Thanks for you response.

    They will most likely be added in the next version (2.4).

    Thanks Elliot,

    I did find a slider shortcode that will add a slider wherever I want it, except where I need it. My client had me do some interesting modifications to the template (which I am not crazy about but hey he is the client) which left me in a quandary as to what to do with my interior pages. I was hoping to duplicate the entire slider module on all the pages.

    To see what I am dealing with the website is:

    This is what I came up with in the meantime as a work around...fun, fun, fun.

    Thanks for the quick response.

    Hello mmjoyner,

    Right now it is possible to duplicate the slideshow to all pages without the use of shortcodes. You can find this option in Dashboard -> your theme -> Slideshow -> Advanced Slider Options.

    The only downside is that the slider will be exactly the same on all pages. Our shortcodes in the next update will let you change the images, etc etc.
