Getting the old Portfolio like in 1.3 back?!

    Hi there,

I started using the awaketheme with v1.3 I really loved the idea of portfolios. I just had to refer to the category in my shortcode and there were my posts in a grid (of course there had to be an portfolio image)

In the new awake v2.4 there're new taxonomies so that articles can't function as portfolios anymore... I have to create portfolios and portfolio categories separate from normal posts and categories.

This might be easier for a lot of user but here comes my problem:

I am using plugis to post articles in batchprocessing via an csv-file. In this way I can post a whole feed of at once. But what this plugin is doing is: posting "normal" articles. And for now I see no chance to refer to those "normal" posts in a portfolio, because they have neither the post_type "portfolio" nor are organized in portfolio_categories.

Is there a chance to get "normal" posts into my portfolios by adding some post_meta data to them?! Another solution would be to reintegrate the old portfolio technique into my blog. I liked the simple integration, because there was only a post_meta "portfolio_full_img" necessary an I could put every post into my portfolio...

I hope I could explain my problem. Maybe you have an idea for a workaround...

    Hello krischi,

What plugin is it? If it takes a feed then you can have it target your portfolio posts like so,

    http://www.yoursite.com/feed/?post_type=portfolio

Yes I' trying to get this info too.

So im guessing that it might be easier to "teach" my plugin to post post_types=portfolio and into portfolio_categories rather than changing the the whole themeoptions right?

btw is it possible to change the permalinks of portfolioposts? because there is only the default "category base" portfolio thx!!

Webtreats posted a solution in this thread, http://mysitemyway.com/support/topic/how-to-use-posts-as-portfolio-items, where you can create a custom permalink for your portfolio items.
