Full-size Image Cropping Weird in Lightbox Effect

  1. First of all, I love the Awake theme that I bought, but I am having a bit of trouble with the lightbox effect.

    It doesn't matter whether I am using the Galleria shortcodes or just an image that you click on in a regular post to get the pop-up lightbox effect.

    I have found that larger images attempt to open the full height of the screen, but they crop the sides. I have experimented with different size images for the full-size image in the Media section. I have found that my images have to be smaller than 600 x 400 px in order to not get cropped in the lightbox.

    Is there a way to display larger images in the lightbox effect without getting this kind of cropping error, or is there a way to fix the resizing of images that show in the lightbox so that I won't have to keep uploading and experimenting with sizes in the Media section?

    Thanks so much.

    Hello wooby6797,

    This is a recommended feature of prettyPhoto. For example if you have a very large image displaying when someone is using a resolution of 1024 x 768 then they would have to keep scrolling around the page to see the full image.

    But if you want to take it off open up /wp-content/themes/[your_theme]/lib/scripts/custom.js and change lines 75 - 77 to this,

    jQuery("a[rel^='prettyPhoto'], a[rel^='lightbox']").prettyPhoto({
    	overlay_gallery: false, allow_resize: false, social_tools: '', 'theme': 'light_square' /* light_square / dark_rounded / light_square / dark_square / facebook */
    });

  3. No, I don't mind that it scales the image to fit the screen to prevent scrolling if that is what it is doing. The problem that I am having is that it is "cropping" the sides of the full-size image in the lightbox. Is this a common problem?

    It shouldn't be. Try deactivating your plugins and send us a link to your site so we can take a closer look.

    Click on Portfolio > Web > DRN, for example.

    On the project page that comes up there is a Galleria of images at the top. Click on one of the images to bring up the lightbox. Note that the images are cropping in the full-size lightbox.

    I don't have any plug-ins installed other than the default ones that came with WP and a registration login plugin called Sabre.

    Ahh it looks like the galleria lightbox you are using. If the images are too big for your screen resolution then it will resize them so it fits in the screen so you do not have to scroll anywhere.

    I recommend keeping this on since most users do not like to scroll to view an image.

    But if you still want to take it off we can try this,

    Open up /wp-content/themes/[your_theme]/lib/shortcodes/19-galleria.php and on line 183 you should see this,

    transition: "' . $transition . '"

    Create a new line above that and add this,

    fullscreenCrop: false,

  7. Yes, I like the resizing feature if that is what it is doing. Right? I assume it is "scaling the images proportionately;" correct? That is why I don't understand the horizontal cropping.

    I don't want to turn the proportionate scaling off, but by adding this line, that will only remove the cropping feature; not the scaling? I'll give it a try and let you know. Thanks so much.
