When this issue has happened in the past you have recommend people to turn of installed plugins that may be conflicting with it. I have done this with no avail. This is the second time I have had this issue with the main slider. At times the slider has worked in the past off and on, then it seems not to work at all. The last time it happened I completely reinstalled it on another host as you recommended. Once this was done the site slider worked perfectly.
Now I have spent a lot more time with the site adding many pages, uploading a whole new library of images etc. I don't see reinstalling it to be a very good option every time this happens. I will end up spending countless hours again trying to get the site back to where it was.
What should I do? I think it may have to do with my recent upgrade to Wordpress 3.1 but I cannot remember if this happened before or after.
I also know Wordpress has some new header box when logged into Wordpress that appears above my website. I have tried to log out and access my website just in case something in that new bar might have been conflicting.
