Adding a featured image to my posts have been working up until yesterday. Yesterday, I tried to add a caption to a featured image for a new post, and found that it created extra space under the thumbnail on my blog topics shortcut page. Looking at the extra space with inspect elements I can see that there is extra coding added in. I removed that image from my post, and removed the caption from the image. But, now any image I use (even ones that were used successfully in the past) when added as a featured image to my post, adds in that extra bit of code creating extra space. New posts / old posts - now have that extra bit of code.
Suggestions for fixing this new bug would be appreciated.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but no one from MSMW staff have responded to this forum or email contacts for over 8 months.
Regarding your error...if it worked before and stopped working then something must have changed. Did you upgrade WordPress, add or update a plug-in, or did your host update your php?
If you provide a link to thie site I can take a quick look. No promises though :-)
FYI: Life after MSMW
I am creating a new community of ex-MSMW users called BackStop Themes if you are interested. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to be put on the mailing list (MSMW is a ghost site...the forum could stop working at any time...not sure how it has stayed operational this long).
I have created a fork of the MSMW themes at https://backstopthemes.com for the GPL themes sold directly by MSMW and updated them to support WP4.7 / PHP7. This excludes the Awake and inFocus themes distributed by Themeforest / WebTreats which are proprietary themes.
If you have basic php skills and want to bring your Awake or inFocus themes up to the current levels (php7 / WP4.7) you can look at the following reference for inspiration: http://mysitemyway.com/support/topic/php-70-breaks-infocus

Wow. That is bad news. Do you know why they abandoned their clients? Thank you for getting in touch!
I'm attaching a screen shot of the visual problem and also one with the code as pointed out by inspector.
My client says the only thing she changed, for the first time, was editing the featured image to include a caption. Since then, no image has worked without the bug.
With the fork of the MSMW themes (my client's is Echelon), are saying that you are picking up the ball where MSMW dropped it? Thanks again! Holly
Not sure why MSMW disappeared...that is kind of the definition of disappearing...wish I knew what happened but it is likely to remain one of life's mysteries!
Regarding BackStop Themes picking up the ball from MSMW...yes and no. BackStop Themes will operate differently than MSMW.
A) Priority 1 & 2 Bug Fixes PLUS Sensible Enhancements (included at no charge):
- Enhancements will be made but they will be focused on improving usability, quality, performance, and business value. I do not plan on BackStop themes trying to compete in the sexy / trendy / faddish theme arms race. There is a significant shift coming in the way themes will be architected. BackStop themes will ensure our clients continue to have a relevant website without having to overhaul their websites.
B) Site-specific debug assistance & site design tweaks (chargeable support, no charge if other community members willing):
No one can handle category (B) at no charge in a businesslike fashion. This is unscalable and often time-consuming work. If I were to guess why MSMW disappeared...the cost to sustain (B) was too high for their "pay once supported forever" business model.
Clients should not have to pay for the theme or pay to have bugs fixed in the theme. However, theme suppliers should not be expected to do website debugging and design tweak consulting for free.
My company can afford to absorb the cost of (A) but we can only support (B) through a chargeable model.
Having said that...for the odd request here or there, such as yours, I'm willing to see if there is a quick fix that jumps out.
Send me a link to the client site problem page and I will look in the debugger. If I were to diagnose this for you without knowing any details I would suggest this is an issue with the out-of-date TimThumb. Go into the theme admin under "Image Resizing" and switch it from "TimThumb" to "Built-in WordPress". See if that fixes your problem. NOTE: Don't use TimThumb...it is not secure. I am reviewing TimThumb and may decide to drop it in the next release...still evaluating options.
I'm just heading out. I'll take a look in about an hour.
I took a look at the problem page and the page source has an unterminated html paragraph around each more link which is throwing off the alignment. This is a problem that has plagued WordPress for 8 years (see https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6984). It relates to the WordPress wpautop() function collision with shortcodes.
Solutions to try:
1) Check via via the page's text editor that there are no user / designer entered unterminated <p> elements on the page.
2) Try wrappering the MSMW shortcode with [raw] ... [/raw] shortcode to override wpautop()
3) Using the text editor's text mode put the shortcode on the same text line as the preceding image. The WordPress text editor only tries to auto-insert <p></p> for elements on new lines.
Let me know how it goes.
FYI - This would be a category (B) issue in the new BackStop Themes model...consider this a promotional freebie...if the advice fixes the problem of course :-)
Ah! the [raw]...[/raw] worked! Thank you so much. You are marvelous and I will be checking out your site more carefully. Thank you Thank you!!
