Fatal error

  1. Good morning... I have 3 of your themes on my host server. All installed right... and for awhile everything is good... then I wake up this morning and login to each theme... thru the WordPress login and on each login I get these messages ( 3 on every login)... is this something to be concerned about, anyway to get rid of these annoying links on the dashboard?? All the fatal errors are this simplepie.php ... looking forward to your reply. Thanks for the help. Bruce

  2. Hey Elliott... on 2 of the themes they are both bare naked... just the upload and that's it. No extras. Should I do step 4 anyway. Now that I really look at the name of you link... the theme I am working on for me... the homepage slider at first gets stuck until you hit refresh. I will try step 4 on my site... thanks... Bruce.

Yes and try deactivating your plugins also.

  4. Elliott... you there... I was thinking...when you unzip the zip there is the theme folder, but inside that is the folder with all the files for the theme. I have been installing manually by FTP, just dragging the folder with the files in it to the wo_content/themes folder. Is this right?? Or should I go inside WordPress and import the zip file?? I have another site I am working on, different host, with WordPress and no Fatal Errors (YEAH!) Anyway, what's your opinion on install procedures?? Thanks for the help. Bruce.

I've always installed via FTP, it's error free and you always know for sure if it works. When you do updates you will need to do them via FTP (until we get our automatic update feature completed) so you might as well go ahead and use FTP for now.

  6. I am correct in uploading only the folder with the files in it... right??

Yes just the theme folder that you get when extracting the zip, not the zip folder itself.

  8. Right... quite perplexing. Like I said... I have 3 WordPress sites on my server inside the public_html folder all with different databases. Could that be the problem?

What are you having trouble with? Send us a link to your page and take a screenshot highlighting the issue.

If this is about the "allowed memory exhausted" error then do what I suggested in my first post, http://mysitemyway.com/support/topic/fatal-error#post-74914.

  10. Good morning... I am still having trouble with these fatal errors, two of them are like below (same line) on the third is line 3156. I did step four (from above post) and there are no activated widgets.... the only widget in the widget area is the Akismet, and in is not activated. Before I went to bed last night everything was normal (no fatal errors) when I log on this morning...there they are???!!! Why is this happening and should I be concerned? I appreciate you patience. Thanks... Bruce.

It's still erroring out on 32MB so you most likely didn't do step #4 correctly. Contact your hosting provider and show them the error.

  12. Hey Elliott... thanks... I copied and pasted the code from #4 and the top of the wp-config.php file. That's it, then I ftp and overwrite the existing. Right? Like I said before the host washes their hands of WP. Anyway, thanks again, sorry to be a pain in the butt, just cannot understand. I just loaded a new WP and uploaded the Method theme( and did #4) no images, no nothing. The images that I do upload (5) for the slider are 900x400.... we will see. thanks man... Bruce.
