Fancy Images "Gallery" with single thumbnail as cue for multiple images on page

Fancy Images effect works very well with multiple images laid out as thumbnails on a page.

Is there a way to have multiple images attached to a page but only show one fancy image thumbnail?

So, when you click on that thumbnail and open the fancy zoom modal you can then scroll through the other images using the fancy image default nav buttons?

    Is that possible?

    Thanks for swift response.

The post above led me to this:

I added the term group="album1" to the fancy image shortcode

And i get multiple thumbnails as described by RamselStudio10

    I did´t understand your explanation:

"You would add extra links to the page like so,

    <a href = "URL to your image" rel = "prettyPhoto[yourgroupname]" style = "display: none;"></a> "

Does all that go inside the fancy image shortcode brackets [ ]?

No, you would add that to the bottom of your content. It's hidden via CSS so it doesn't get displayed anywhere. It just adds extra images into the prettyPhoto gallery.
