Exclude single post item from portfolio

  1. Hi, sorry to ask yet another question:

Is it possible to exclude a single post from a portfolio gallery (but not by removing it from the category in use)?

The reason I ask this: I would like to use 4-column-portfolios at the bottom of my single portfolio pages to give the visitors easy access to the other items without clicking back to the main gallery. For this, it would be nice to be able to exclude the current item from the resulting "thumb navigation" at the bottom.

    Hello dumbledore,

Not sure I understand correctly. If you wish to have a post stay a part of your portfolio category with it not showing up in the portfolio then make sure you do not have an image in the "Portfolio Fullsize Image" field.

Is this what you were trying to do?

  3. Not really. Let me put it this way: I want to use the portfolio twice:

    1) As the main gallery (3 columns), containing all posts (and pictures) from a given category. So far I am using it as intended.

    But:

    2) On the bottom of each single post, I insert this same gallery again (4 columns), using it like a "thumb navigation" to access the rest of the previously shown gallery items instantly. Works fine also. The one thing to make this perfect though would be a way to NOT show the CURRENT post item (the one that was just chosen by the visitor and is presented in the post) in this bottom row. So I'd have to exclude it, preferably via shortcode in the post.

I completely understand if this cannot be done. Then again, maybe it can?

It is possible dumbledore but is pretty unique and would take some time to code so it would have to be considered custom work.

As an alternative you could consider using the fancy_images shortcode below your main gallery for complete control.

  5. Thank you very much Elliott, I think I will go with the fancy_images shortcode as you suggested.
