Category Archive Page Layout

  1. I've combed the forums and can't seem to find anything on this.

    I'm using Sidebar widget Blog Categories -- when I pull up an "archive" page for any category everything works find.

    But how can I set the layout defaults:

    a) layout: sidebar left
    b) no teaser intro
    c) custom sidebar choice (same as the main blog page

    in fact, I just want to mimic the main blog page when a category search/selection is done (this category widget is in that sidebar, too)

    thoughts?

    Hello MacMyDay,

    We will be adding these features in a future update. In the meantime you can try this out, http://mysitemyway.com/support/topic/echelon-full-width-blog-archive-page.

    Except use this code instead,

    //remove_action( 'mysite_after_main', 'mysite_get_sidebar' );
    get_header(); ?>
    <script type = 'text/javascript'>jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('body').removeClass('right_sidebar').addClass('left_sidebar'); });</script>

    In the template, it's /wp-content/themes/[your_theme]/archive.php. If you want it on your search results also then do the same thing in search.php as well.

  5. okay. I added this after the

    <?php mysite_archive(); ?>

    	<?php mysite_after_page_content(); ?>

    and now the page is showing the comment?

    Also, any way to tell IF which sidebar to place on left? It's currently pulling from the default which I have to use as my Jigoshop sidebar... otherwise I guess I have to go to full width and figure a way to mimic the blog widgets as i have on
    http://www.allankarl.com/keynote_speaker/category/inspiration/

    with short codes or other?

    See here, http://mysitemyway.com/support/topic/echelon-full-width-blog-archive-page.

    You need to change line 9,

    get_header(); ?>

    To this,

    //remove_action( 'mysite_after_main', 'mysite_get_sidebar' );
    get_header(); ?>
    <script type = 'text/javascript'>jQuery(document).ready(function(){ jQuery('body').removeClass('right_sidebar').addClass('left_sidebar'); });</script>

    We'll have some sidebar and layout options added in the admin panel for a future update.

    I've just used this to remove the sidebar widget and made it full width with the above change. The only problem is the images are 720 when they should be full width (980 i think), is there any way of making the images 980px wide?

    Thanks

    Hello pearson,

    Navigate to Dashboard -> your theme -> Image Resizing and you can change the image sizes under the "Image Sizes for Right Sidebar Layouts".

    It depends on what blog layout your using but if the current image is 720px wide then I would look for that one and change it to 980.

    Did these options get added in this update? Or do I need to go in and include this code in a child theme file called archive.php?

    Update your theme to the latest version and you can change the specialty page layouts in Dashboard -> your theme -> Specialty Pages.
