Awake - Slider issues....

    HI.
Have exhausted the topics in the forum regarding issues with the slider in the Awake theme.
My problem is that I deleted all the default slider entries from the 'slider' page and started adding my own.
Initially, I added only one to test. No luck. just a blank space with the rotating 'thinking' icon...
The forum search I did led me to add more than one item to the slider, (currently 5 items) as well as trying absolute addresses instead of partial addresses to the images. No luck there either.
I've updated the script.js, edited the thumb.php, deleted the cache.ec etc etc.
I'm in the process of deleting the entire scripts directory for a fresh install.

    #edit
Also changed the permissions as recommended by the forum posts.
Re-added all scripts, & php file throughout the directory....no change....

    Any ideas?

    Another update:
Only the fading slider is toast. Seems like the tabbed slider is 100% functional....
Could there be a corrupt bit of script somewhere?

    Hi Raspo...just figured it out...

If any of the pics are out of size, the whole thing is kaput.
I came to this conclusion by having one of the items 100% correct, and the other 4 incorrect (either text or picture) and it wouldn't work.
After changing ALL of them to the same picture, hey presto!, it worked. (Does this mean there are errors in the thumb.php file?)

I will check this further by changing the various styles to see if it works, and post results back here.
    Thanks

  5. Hi Dinop,
it seems to be a problem with timthumb.
If i try to open your "wp-content/themes/awake/lib/scripts/thumb.php" file, I get an Internal Server Error, which is wrong.
Are you on hostgator? I read about other people having trouble with it on certain hosts.
The thing you can do is contact your hoster and ask if they know anything about this TimThumb issue.

Let us know if you find a solution.

    Hi Raspo
No solution yet. have made recommended changes, and spoken to my host. I have other sites running with timthumb with no hassles.
No worries, will tackle the problem when i get to it again at the portfolio stage at some point. Maybe by then there might be an update that sorts it out. Thanks for your help, most appreciated.

    Right.
Please excuse the text if a letter or two is missing. That's because a few keys are missing from the keyboard after using it to vent my frustrations. Sigh.
This ^%@#% slider is really beginning to bug me because of it's inconsistencies.
I test it with one pic. Works fine. Size is pixel perfect.
Add another, also pixel perfect, and i get the perpetually rotating 'thinking' icon again. It's a good thing I shave my head, because I'd be pulling hair out otherwise. ARRGH!

Can you please post the latest thumb.php that you have? I'm at my wits end.

  8. Hi Dinop,
the images in the slider are working when they don't need to be resized (IE when using the "full" option).

Your TimThumb (the script that resize the images) is not working, period.
    look at this: http://initiate-cad.com/wp-content/themes/awake/lib/scripts/thumb.php
and this is how it should look like: http://themes.mysitemyway.com/awake/wp-content/themes/awake/lib/scripts/thumb.php

Make sure to grant 777 permissions to the following file and folders:
    awake\lib\scripts\thumb.php
    awake\lib\scripts\cache\

and take a look at this guide http://www.elegantthemes.com/troubleshooting-timthumb.html. It should help you troubleshooting timthumb

    Hi Raspo
After my initial problems, I've been resizing the pics in Photoshop to EXACTLY the correct sizes as specified in the documentation and in the templates.
    Regarding the Timthumb troubleshooting:
-Must I create a dummy post so that I can add a custom field (Thumbnail) and point it to a picture?
if so, do i do this for all pics in the slider?

Can you post a thumb.php for me to D/L in case mine is corrupt?

  10. Hi Dinop,
the troubleshooting page I linked gives you just an idea of what you can do to troubleshoot the problem you don't have to follow each steps.
Did you fixed the permissions? Cause the permission are the issue here in my opinion.
It looks like you placed your images in the "wp-content/themes/awake/styles/_shared/sliders/" folder. Make sure to have granted 755 permissions to both the folder and the images in it.

The thumb.php file should not be currupted, anyway you can get a fresh version from the package you downloaded on themeforest

    Hi Raspo

Permissions were the first things I checked after reading the forums the first time.
I'm going to do a full reinstall. It's the last thing i can think of doing.

    OK Reinstall had no effect.
Thumb.php ain't working, And because from previous experience I know that if that isn't working, I have to upload pics for the slider as exact sizes as per documentation, and as per default pics.
Still wasn't working this time around, until I took a look at slider.php
According to the docs, Partial Gradient must be - 510 x 344 pixels. In the php file it's - 510 x 334 pixels. So I changed the php to 344, and it works. Thumb.php is still knackered but at least I have a workaround...
