add a fancy image to blog page

   HI, I have tried to add some intro copy and an image to the blog page but i can' get it to work. What am I doing wrong?

   Hi, sorry if I'm not understanding, this is my first attempt at a wordpress site. I want an image for the page (as all the other pages have) not one that refers to to a post. The only way I've been able to add additional text or add an image to the blog page is to put it in the sidebar but I'd like it in the main content area. Adding a shortcode didn't seem to work :(

   First off, navigate to Dashboard -> your theme -> Blog and remove the page your using there as the blog page.

   Next navigate to that page and add the shortcode, you can also add an image above or below the shortcode.
