I forgot to mention two other things I'd like to see included in your framework..

A LOCALLY HOSTED VIDEO PLAYER OPTION:

You provide players for YourTube and Vimeo - would you consider adding a player for locally hosted videos too?

I sometimes need to embed an iframe - would you consider adding a method to embed one in the slider options - for example, when using the partial staged right and left slide options?

SLIDER HOOKS:

It would also be nice to trigger the slider to display information in a particular slide that can be triggered by a link or button from down in the page content area. Would this be a possibility?

Thanks.

Elliott,

Although I've been asking a lot of your time in the last week 'working through Myriad issues - I've also been learning about your framework at the same time; and in general, I'm so impressed that I am now thinking about purchasing four additional themes..
1. Dejavu
2. Method
3. Construct
4. Echelon

I'm a WP developer - no, not a php-type developer, but I set up and fine tune content layout, tweak CSS, and teach others how to maintain a WP site. And after spending all this time studying your themes and framework, I have decided to add you to my list of premier theme offerings.

Because your framework has a couple of limits that I am concerned about - I wanted to take this moment to address each of them, and also want to ask once again about the following (this is a repeat of the original question that began this thread)..

I have some additional slider plugins that I would like integrated into the Myrad site - so I have the ability to use this (sometimes) in place of the header image sliders (See http://jing.videvent.com/2012-03-16_13-31-01.snagproj.png) you already provide.

Ideally I would like to see an additional option in your Sliders (back-office) panel that would give me the option to..

1. Somehow be able select from these sliders 'that do not come with Myrad.
2. And that would place the selected slider up in the header location where your sliders are normally inserted.

Most slider plugins allow you to create multiple slide sets ("sliders"), 'each with an ID of some kind.
This would make it tricky - and I understand this.

The two additional sliders I want to integrate are..
"LayerSlider" - http://codecanyon.net/item/layerslider-wp-the-wordpress-parallax-slider/1362246
and some kind of Accordion slider (your choice).

Here are my other concerns..
AVATARS:

I'm concerned that the only way for people registered for the site to display a personal avatar is for them to have to go off-site to http://en.gravatar.com/

TUTORIALS:

I'm also concerned that working with your framework is in many ways unfamiliar from the standard WP paradigm, and that you don't have a video tutorial series 'to get people up and running quickly. Of course, there's plenty of room for creating variations; when using a child theme and modifying the CSS, there's much that can be done.

It took me quite awhile to get a top-down understanding of what is possible within your standard framework, and what requires custom CSS tweaking.

The complicated relationship between the WP Settings->Reading settings is still a bit of a mystery to me - which is an idiosyncrasy that could throw users. And, like the one just mentioned, there are probably others I have not yet found.

So my point here is..
You need a video tutorial series that takes theme users through - first - how to set up your WP site to work with your themes and the framework, and -second - how to configure it using your configuration panel options, and - third - how to use the custom theme creator/editor to truly come up with a unique personal variation, and - fourth - how to work with child themes, and to understand the making custom CSS modifications 'when your theme editor is unable to do why is wanted/needed.

I would be willing to produce this series for you - once I have mastered the techniques myself.
I've done this for application developers and others over the years - and I also find that doing these gives me a real edge in terms of understanding topics that interest me. So I wanted to throw my hat in the ring and offer to do this for you if you're interested - no charge. I would however need your help if I were to do this.

It's something to consider.

ALPHA COLOR CHOOSER:

My last concern is something you might want to consider adding to the theme editor.

Almost all my external (custom) CSS tweaks have been born out of a need to specify custom alpha to text, colors, backgrounds, divs and fields.

Would you consider building in a method to do this - using a modified color chooser in your editor perhaps?

I also notice that there are additional theme editor configuration options that users can install by pasting in code - and I would suggest you just include these in an advanced editor mode 'that can be enabled by clicking a button or something.

Anyway, those are my concerns.

Would you give me your thoughts on these please.

Thanks.

Here's an update - as I have found a simple work-around to the problem with the admin bar covering up your drop-down "footer" section.

I installed a plugin called "Admin Bar Remover" (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/admin-bar/)
To remove the WP Admin Bar from the front-end pages, and which will still display the admin bar when in the WP admin area.

Then, I tweaked the CSS a little to give the footer section a fixed width with an offset, and I adjusted the button vertical placements a bit too.

Here I am logged in, and this is the footer now when closed..
http://jing.videvent.com/2012-03-25_12-21-21.snagproj.png

And here it is when opened..
http://jing.videvent.com/2012-03-25_12-25-05.snagproj.png

Of course it would be better if it just came this way.

Because of the way the Footer drop down and search icons get hidden by the WP admin bar, I've been forced to look for other ways of dealing with this - using some additional plugins.

I am compelled in this case to resort to another movie to show what I'm hoping we can do to resolve this issue..
[5:15] http://jing.videvent.com/2012-03-21_17-18-29.mp4

Hopefully you will watch the movie - but I will also try to summarize everything here as well.
Of course I may leave something out, and if you are willing to watch the movie, you might see something I failed to mention below..

SUMMARY
I installed three additional plugins that I'm using in conjunction to give me a configurable drop-down panel at the top of every page. The plugins are as follows:

1. TheThe Sliding Panels (http://thethefly.com/wp-plugins/thethe-sliding-panels/)
This provides the drop down panel I want.

2. Tabber Widget (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tabber-widget/)
Which allows me to place a tab panel into Sliding Panels, and that accepts widgets for each of the tabs.

3. Admin Bar Remover (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/admin-bar/)
To remove the WP Admin Bar from the front end pages.

Together, these three plugins give me exactly what I want and need.
However, the "TheThe Sliding Panels" plugin conflicts with two of your Slideshows.
The two that conflict are: "Scrolling Slider" and "Nivo Slider".

I plan to contact "TheThe Sliding Panels" support to see what they can possibly do - but before I did that I wanted your feedback; because I'm sure they will need to know how you're implementing things at your end. And so, as a developer, what do you think they should know that might help them help me?

Or, is there anything you can do that might resolve this conflict?
I imagine that you - taking pride in your Footer drop down 'used at the top of every page - might ask why I would want to use someone else's stuff to do what you have already provided? And the answer to that is simply - given the issue with the WP Admin Bar - what other options are there for me! Yes, you already suggested I could put the footer panel down at the bottom of every page; but that does not work for me.
Do you therefore have any other suggestions - or would you be willing to help resolve the plugin issue?

You were going to work on something for adding other (3rd party) slideshow options (discussed in this same thread, back on Mar. 16th) - so I would be interested to know if perhaps a third option might be here - since, if I were able to use third party slideshow plugins in the Myriad theme, maybe I could just use those; where possibly these conflicts can be avoided.

What do you think?

I am not sure if you have been logged in to my dev site 'doing some work on it - which is fine if you have - but I'm wondering about it now, since when I woke up this morning the backgrounds are no longer appearing - regardless of the skin selected.

Have you been working on it?

Have a look to see what I'm talking about, here.. http://dev.videvent.com

I am not a PHP programmer - though I suppose a custom post type might have to be created, or possibly a custom page template? Or, maybe you have a better suggestion?

Please forgive my asking you about this - after all, you Myrad theme is incredibly powerful already, and what I'm asking here is not really a question about the built-in features already incorporated into your framework.

Nonetheless, I wanted to ask, since I plan to offer your themes to clients I have (and will have in the future) - and having a way to replace the header image with a different slider would really round out your feature set.

I will be looking forward to your thoughts and/or suggestions regarding this.

Thanks so much.

Yours,
