Elliott,

You're right! I said "fancy_images" in error...I was thinking about the image-frames instead...

Thanks for anticipating my question about how to do that styling! ;-) Exactly what I wanted to know...and do!

Awesome! :-)

There is only one fancy_images style and the featured images should already be using it. Do you mean the image_frame styles? It might be possible depending on the style.

For the shadow and reflection you will want to disable the featured image in the post settings and then insert the image_frame shortcode into the post content though. Just plain CSS will not work on it.

Hi Elliott,

This was more of a general question...I was just wondering if any of the Fancy Image styles were possible with the "featured Image" - such as via shortcodes... My goal was to change up the look of featured images among posts from time to time...if it's a simple process (I'm a CSS novice). If it involves custom css each time, it's probably too involved for my level of css-saavy. ;-)

Thanks,
Karen

Hi,

I'm using the Featured Image in my posts, and am wondering if there is any way to style the featured image, such as with Fancy Image or image frames shortcodes.

I've looked all through the Docs and Forum but can locate any previous answers on this...

Using Echelon...

Can the read more button text be modified to something custom? and is a similar dual link function available for slider of fancy images ?

Elliot - strange request since it is your page based upon the xml starter content file.

http://mysitemyway.com/docs/index.php/Elegance_XML_Starter_Content

apparently the page displays at http://demo.mysitemyway.com/elegance-xml/

under the slider there appears to be a portfolio grid 4x display with caption (or title) and description text under each image. But there is also two separate links ("read more"-"visit site") which is exactly what I need (assuming "read more" text can be changed to some custom text). This is the first example in your materials I have seen to provide two independent link functions in a portfolio, gallery or fancy images display.

So I am looking for the technique in a portfolio, and, if possible, in the slider and fancy images environments to produce two independent linls for each image.

Thanks, Elliott

Elegance theme
I need rows of 4x image displays. Fancy images is beautiful but I need two links under each image (one to a site, one to a coupon). Also could use two links with slider images.
Your starter content file has such a display can you explain a bit how it was done and can "read more" text be changed to custom.
Automatic sizing of variable images is a help (in fancy images)
Your themes are great and very powerful, but written documentation would be a help (and I would ask fewer stupid questions here)
Thanks for all you do.

I was curious if there was a way to make the fancy images links open in a new page or tab. I love the look of them and was needing the caption feature but I didn't want the links to pull people away from the page.

Here is the link:

Thanks, Elliott,

I tried that code, and the image looked better (didn't flow outside the main container), but still didn't resize, so I decided to just go with the image banner and resize my images to fit and look as I want them to.

I still need to figure out the best option to implement this image banner on the home page, but thinking I can likely use coding from the other pages to put it in...I hope!

Thanks again,

You can make an image resize via CSS,

<img src = "#" style = "height: 100%; width: auto;" />

And try that in the intro instead of the fancy_images.

Hi Elliot,

Thanks for this. I thought that it was maybe a situation with the fancy_images having a fixed width. Is there any workaround? I'd send a link to the page, but the whole site is in "Coming Soon" mode, so to do so I'd have to provide access before it's ready to go live.

Maybe a better option would be for me to be able to adjust the height of the Image Banner for each page to accommodate the images I would like to use (and am currently using with custom html). Is there a way to do this?

This wouldn't solve it for the homepage, since there's no image banner option there, but maybe inserting some code there, too, would help?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!

Jake

Hello jakenorton,

Do you mean they are not resizing when viewed on a mobile or just not resizing when you change the browser width / height? The fancy_images have a fixed width so by default they are not supposed to resize.

Send us a link to the page.

Hi,

My site's getting close to being finished, but am having some issues with images I've placed in the "intro" area using custom raw html. They just won't resize at all, whereas all other images in my site seem to resize just fine (except those in a vslider, but that's a separate issue).

Here's the code I'm using, if it helps:

[fancy_images width="900" height="400" align="center"][image alt="DSC1544-Panorama.jpg" title="Climbers high on Mount Cook, New Zealand."]http://imagecodeher.com/image.jpg[/image]
[/fancy_images][clearboth]

<h2 text-align"center>Keynotes, Workshops, & Trainings by Jake Norton</h2>

If I use the image banner instead, it works just fine and resizes appropriately, but not with the fancy images code. And, now I'm noticing that none of my fancy image codes resize. Is this an error, or to be expected?

Thanks,
